Community Housing Connect
This tool is available for those experiencing a housing crisis – those who may be residing outdoors, in their car, or at a park, staying in an emergency shelter, motel, or hotel. Those at risk of losing their housing are also experiencing a housing crisis. The brief online questionnaire will help collect information which will be used to prioritize your housing needs with the resources available in our community. The site also contains information and links to other resources and services, particularly for veterans and youth.
The largest resource for affordable apartments, condos, houses, and townhouses, including section8 rental housing and housing agency waiting lists nationwide. (Formerly the Michigan Housing Locator.)
Tips to Help Your Search
– Keep your important documents, such as birth certificates, social security number, photo IDs, and proof of income (pay stubs) safe.
– Keep track of who you contact for help. You may have to “verify homelessness” by having professionals who can vouch that you were experiencing homelessness.
– When you get housing, you’ll need your important identification documents to verify your identity. Not having them on hand or needing to request copies can significantly delay the process.
